Earlier the makers of the films used to conduct success meets and celebrations only when the film completes 50days or 100days. Now even before the end of the early morning show or paid premiers, they are conducting success meets.
Of late viewers watched the success meets of films like Odela 2, Robinhood, Arjun s/o Vyjayanthii, Mazaka, Jack, Laila, Shanmukha, 28 Degree Celsius, Akkada Abbai Ikkada Aamayi, Chaurya Paatam, and Sarangapani Jathakam etc. The makers organised success meets with cake cutting and other events.
But all those films left with out a trace and they turned out to be disasters. Tirupati Varadareddy, senior distributor speaking to scribes said “Success meets have lost their value,” He continued “You can’t draw crowds with crackers and cakes. Sooner or later, filmmakers will realize that these tricks can’t fool today’s audience.”
Talking about a recent success meet, he said “The actor even took a vacation to celebrate" He revealed “but within days, the truth about the film’s poor performance surfaced. The event was more about sparing the actor’s feelings than acknowledging real success.”
He added “Some still believe these gimmicks can create an illusion of success,” Varadareddy continued, “but audiences are smarter now. These tactics are losing their effect.”
He shared “Back in the day, success meetings were held after 50 or 100 days of a film’s run and truly meant something,” Varadareddy concluded. “Now, they’re held on the release day or the very next day, often just to maintain appearances. Even actors are instructed to stay back for these events before flying out.”
