Very few know about Malayalam classic Manichithra Thazhu directed by Faasil, father of popular actor Fahadh Faasil. But, when it is mentioned that it is the original of Chandramukhi, everyone gets reminded about the film and it's gigantic success.
The Superstar Rajinikanth starrer created a havoc at the Box-office when it was released in 2005 in Tamil and Telugu. Chandramukhi is the longest run film in Tamil Nadu. It ran for 890 days in Shanthi theatre at Chennai. Chandramukhi not only stands as an example for Rajinikanth's star power but also it is remembered for Chandramukhi's character donned by Jyothika.
Now after 17 years the sequel for the film, Chandramukhi 2 starring Raghava Lawrence is being made. It is being directed by veteran director P Vasu who directed the first part. Lyca Productions is producing the film.
