IFFI begins on Nov 23

Veteran Hyderabadi actress Waheeda Rehman,Tamil actress Asin and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni will grace the inauguration of the 40th International Film Festival at Goa beginning Monday. More than 55 films from 476 nations are being shown in the 'World Cinema' section of the 11-day festival.
Atanu Ghosh's Bengali film Angshumaner Chhobi, Satish Manwar's Marathi film Gabricha Paus and some Telugu musical hits have been chosen for the competition section,which has 13 films from Bangladesh,Brazil, China, Kazakhstan, Iran, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, South Korea,Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Argentina.

Ananth Mahadevan’s Red Alert – The War Within, about a simple Andhra  villager who is caught in the crossfire between the police and the Maoists, is expected to be among the films of the Indian Premier section.Chinese film Wheat directed by He Peng will be the opening film. The fest will be closed by Spanish film Broken Embrace,directed by Pedro Almodovar. Mamoothy will be chief guest at the valedictory on Dec 3.The jury is headed by director Joao Batista de Andrade from Brazil.Other members of the jury are Vic Sarin (Canada), Kenichi Okubu (Tokyo), Sarika (India) and Jean-Michel Frodon (France).
