Bollywood star Akshay Kumar’s 13-year-old daughter was targeted in a disturbing cyber harassment case, and the Maharashtra Cyber Crime Branch has now arrested the accused. The incident happened on an online gaming platform, where an unknown user tried to chat with her and later sent inappropriate messages. Akshay first spoke about this at the ‘Cyber Awareness Month 2025’ event held at Mumbai Police Headquarters in October last year. His revelation shocked parents across the country and brought fresh focus to child safety in online games.
Akshay shared exactly how it unfolded. His daughter was playing a video game when a stranger messaged her, “You played very well, where are you from?” The chat seemed normal at first. But when she replied that she was a girl, the person crossed the line and asked her to send nude photos. Thankfully, she was alert, quit the game immediately, and told her mother. Akshay said this is why kids must feel safe talking to parents about anything online. “It is very important for children to share such things with their parents,” he stressed. The clip of Akshay speaking at a Mumbai college cyber security session went viral.
Following the case, Akshay made a direct appeal to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis. He said cyber crimes are now more dangerous than street crimes and requested weekly cyber awareness classes in all schools. “Awareness is the only way to prevent children from falling into such traps in the digital world,” he said. Mumbai Police have been using his video in colleges to teach students about online financial frauds, phishing attacks, social media safety, and cyber bullying. The arrested accused is a 22-year-old from Uttar Pradesh who targeted minors on gaming apps.
The case is a wake-up call for every parent. Akshay’s decision to speak openly has started a much-needed conversation on digital safety for kids. With gaming and social media being part of daily life, experts say parental monitoring and open communication are key. The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to check if the accused targeted other minors too.
