An unseen 20-minute clip of Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana just blew people away at CinemaCon. Early viewers who caught the footage are already talking about the massive scale and top-tier VFX. The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, was part of a special showcase at the big yearly film industry event in Las Vegas. Producer Namit Malhotra and actor-producer Yash also spoke to international media during the event, giving the project even more global attention.
A CinemaCon attendee revealed that the 20-minute footage was screened for a small group of guests, and the reaction was huge. YouTuber Mr. Like It Or Not shared that he was one of the 15 people who got to watch the Ramayana footage on Saturday. He said the film looks stunning and the visuals are fantastic.
In his words, “this film can be both, a true grand epic, and also a spectacular fantasy story.” He also added that the team showed an 8-minute short along with the 20-minute unseen clip. The buzz is that the movie is being positioned as a big international player, with the makers even eyeing Academy Awards. There’s talk of pushing for nominations in several categories, especially Best International Feature Film.
The biggest chatter right now is about distribution. The YouTuber claimed Warner Bros. has come on board to release Ramayana globally. He said, “They just landed a big distribution here in America that will give them a big, global push. Warner Bros studios will be distributing this film globally. That is a very big deal about over 4500 screens showing this film this November.” That kind of rollout would be massive for an Indian mythology epic. However, neither Warner Bros. Discovery nor the Ramayana team has officially confirmed the deal yet.
