SIFPA Takes Charge to Protect Film Industry

South Producers Unite Forms SIFPA

In a big move for regional cinema, producers from Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam industries have joined hands to launch the South Indian Film Producers Association, or SIFPA. The announcement came on April 19, 2026, after a key meeting at Hotel Daspalla in Hyderabad. The new body has one clear goal, to protect producers and tackle the tough challenges hitting the film production world right now.

According to the press release, some one-sided decisions by other industry groups have thrown the entire system off balance. This has hit thousands of jobs and made it harder to run film projects smoothly. To get things moving quickly, SIFPA has set up a steering committee with members from all four South Indian film industries.

This team will handle urgent issues and make sure everyone works together better. The association made it clear that producers should stick to their current way of making films, their sales deals, and release plans. No outside interference and no new commitments until the group takes a collective call. SIFPA also said no to fixed OTT release windows for now.

No letters or promises about digital release timelines will go out at this stage. By coming together under one banner, producers finally have a strong, united voice to push back and negotiate fair industry rules.
