Vijay's Jana Nayagan makers got a huge shock when the film was leaked online.
Cyber Cops already arrested six people and they are continuing the investigation. In the meantime, rumours spread that the leak happened at a Hyderabad Studio and that editor Pradeep E Raghav was involved. Following this, Editors Union came up with a powerful clarification.
Their statement said that had the editor leaked Jana Nayagan, he would likely have removed the watermark to avoid trouble. However, the circulated version still carried the edit reference watermark. Despite the allegations and blame, the investigation is underway.
Earlier while the footage was passed through multiple hands, which led to the assumption that the leak happened during the process, the official statement has led to speculation about whether the Editors’ Union is blaming Annapurna Studios.
The South Indian Film Editors Association president, Gopi, and the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) president, RK Selvamani, denied any editors' involvement in the leak, claiming that an internal inquiry has cleared them.
