Radhika Sarathkumar’s comedy-drama blockbuster Thaai Kizhavi is now streaming on JioHotstar, bringing the ₹75 Cr worldwide grosser to digital audiences. The film, which turned into a massive theatrical success, has made its much-awaited OTT debut and is available to watch in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
JioHotstar acquired the digital rights of Thaai Kizhavi, giving OTT viewers across India access to the family entertainer that won over theatres with its mix of humor and emotion. Thaai Kizhavi tells the story of Pavunthaayi, played by Radhika Sarathkumar, an ageing woman in a Madurai village who earns a living by lending money to locals. A strong-willed matriarch, she lives with her daughter Suruli, portrayed by Raichal Rabecca, after being abandoned by her three sons.
When Pavunthaayi falls ill and is on her deathbed, the sons return after learning she has hidden jewels worth lakhs. Their sudden attempt to nurse her back to health, driven by selfish motives, sets up a narrative that balances comedy and drama with sharp social commentary.
Directed by Sivakumar Murugesan, Thaai Kizhavi stars Radhika Sarathkumar in a powerful central role, supported by Raichal Rabecca, Athadi Kumaran, Singampuli, and Munishkanth in key roles. The film is produced by actor-producer Sivakarthikeyan and features music by Nivas K. Prasanna. Strong performances and solid production values helped Thaai Kizhavi connect with family audiences during its theatrical run, contributing to its ₹75 Cr box office collection.
