Filmmaker Aditya Dhar has issued a legal notice to fellow filmmaker Santosh Kumar RS after RS alleged that Dhar's recent film, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is plagiarized. RS claims that the Ranveer Singh-starrer has similarities with a script he registered in 2023, specifically pointing out that the main character in Dhurandhar 2 is similar to one in his own film, D-Saheb.
The dispute began when Santosh Kumar RS publicly alleged that Aditya Dhar's film copied elements from his script, D-Saheb, which he registered with the Screenwriters Association in November 2023. RS stated, "They have manipulated my project, script, and exploited me. I have all the proof from the Screenwriters Association".
Aditya Dhar's legal team has refuted these allegations, calling them "baseless, false, and untenable." A source close to Dhar said, "Aditya Dhar has already issued a notice to Santosh Kumar through his legal team, requesting him to refrain from making false claims." Despite this, Santosh Kumar RS continues to stand by his allegations, stating he's prepared to take legal action against the makers of Dhurandhar 2.
The controversy hasn't affected Dhurandhar 2's box office performance, with the film earning ₹1,500 crore worldwide. Meanwhile, Santosh Kumar RS has announced his intention to file a case against the makers, saying, "I am filing a case against them. The producers are harassing me for making the story public".
