Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has spoken about one of his childhood dreams, revealing he once wanted to become an auto-rickshaw driver. In a long note on X, he shared how his dreams changed over time, influenced by various experiences and inspirations. Varma wrote, "I wanted to be an auto rickshaw driver when I was around 10, because I was fascinated with the vrooom vroom sound when the accelerator revs up."
Varma's inspirations range from Enid Blyton to James Hadley Chase, and later, Fredrick Forsyth. He benchmarked his films on classics like 'The Sound of Music', 'Exorcist', and 'Godfather', which led to films like 'Rangeela', 'Raat', 'Bhoot', 'Satya', 'Company', and 'Sarkar'.
The director recently watched Ranveer Singh-starrer 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' and was inspired to rethink his filmmaking approach. He decided to put the next 'Sarkar' installment on hold and focus on a new project titled 'Syndicate' which is based on a premise where the entire law and order of India collapses in a day, exploring the horrors that exist in human minds.
Ram Gopal Varma believes this project matches the post 'Dhurandhar 2' era and wants to shed his old style, inspired by Aditya Dhar's work. RGV expressed his admiration for 'Dhurandhar 2', stating it redefined everything in filmmaking, from craft to storytelling. He wants to join the new school of Aditya Dhar and re-work on his cinematic beliefs, urging others to do the same.
