Vijay Sethupathi has confirmed his collaboration with acclaimed director Mani Ratnam for a new project, which will also feature Sai Pallavi. The film is expected to be a romantic drama, marking a departure from Sethupathi's previous work with Ratnam in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (2018). Speaking about their reunion, Sethupathi said, "This time, we're doing something completely different...The Vijay Sethupathi who entered the industry seeking small roles is still alive".
The shooting for the untitled project is likely to begin this summer, with music possibly composed by Sai Abhyankkar, although AR Rahman is also rumored to be on board. Sethupathi expressed his enthusiasm for working with Ratnam, stating that he wants to ensure his zeal remains unchanged, even while working with a master filmmaker like Ratnam.
Sethupathi is currently busy with other projects, including the production of Arasan, a gangster action drama starring Silambarasan, and Pocket Novel, directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, featuring Malavika Mohanan and Raj B Shetty. The upcoming film with Mani Ratnam marks an exciting new chapter in Sethupathi's career.
The film's genre and plot are still under wraps, but industry insiders suggest it will be a soft romantic entertainer, focusing on human emotions. With Ratnam's direction and Sethupathi's acting prowess, fans are eagerly awaiting this new collaboration.
