National Award Filmmaker Prakash Jha has confirmed that a sequel to his 2010 political drama Raajneeti is in the works, sparking excitement among fans of the film's lead stars Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. The sequel is likely to mark Kaif's return to the big screen after more than two years, and fans are hoping for a reunion of the original cast.
Jha, known for his socio-political dramas, has been working on the script and is currently in the pre-production phase. The original film, which drew inspiration from the Mahabharata, featured an ensemble cast, including Naseeruddin Shah, Nana Patekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Ajay Devgn, and Arjun Rampal. While casting details are yet to be finalized, the possibility of Ranbir and Katrina reuniting on screen is generating significant buzz.
The filmmaker has praised Ranbir's self-evaluation of his performance in the original film, stating that it's a sign of his intelligence and maturity as an actor. Ranbir Kapoor is currently busy with two big projects, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love and War and Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana duology, while Katrina Kaif has been focusing on motherhood after welcoming her son, Vihaan Kaushal, with husband Vicky Kaushal.
