Patriot Movie Release Faces A Revenue Sharing Dispute

Patriot Blacklisted By Theatres

The upcoming Malayalam film Patriot, starring Mammootty and Mohanlal, is facing a possible theatre boycott in Kerala due to a revenue-sharing dispute. The Film Exhibitors United Organization of Kerala (FEUOK) has objected to the producer's proposed revenue-sharing formula, which suggests a 60:40 ratio for the first two weeks, with 60% going to the producer and 40% to theatre owners.

The current industry formula in Kerala theatres allocates 60% to the producer and 40% to the exhibitor in the first week, followed by 55:45 in the second week and 50:50 in the third week. FEUOK president K. Vijayakumar stated that agreeing to the producer's proposal would cause significant financial losses to theatre owners.

Patriot, directed by Mahesh Narayanan, is a spy action drama centered around a controversial intelligence mission, featuring an impressive cast, including Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, and Revathi. The film is scheduled to release on April 23, 2026, and marks the reunion of Mammootty and Mohanlal after nearly a decade.

The dispute has led to speculation that Patriot could be blacklisted by theatres in Kerala if the issue isn't resolved. The makers are yet to comment on the situation. Mammootty and Mohanlal are two of Malayalam cinema's biggest icons, and their collaboration has generated huge buzz among fans.
