How Dhurandhar Shaped From Web Series to Blockbuster Film

Dhurandhar Initially Planned As WS

Dhurandhar, the high octane Bollywood spy action thriller starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar, has broken records as one of India's most profitable films. The movie has grossed over Rs. 1,300 crore worldwide, offering a realistic and gripping espionage experience praised for its performances and direction. It's is the top A rated Grosser of Indian Cinema.

Interestingly, Dhurandhar was initially planned as a web series, but the sheer scale and conviction behind its story convinced the director Aditya to rethink its treatment. Sources close to the project indicated that the change was made before cameras started rolling, and the film was locked in as a full length feature.

Dhurandhar follows an undercover RAW agent who lands in Karachi's Lyari underworld to dismantle a terror mafia nexus. The film features a power struggle involving gangsters, ISI officers, and politicians, with the protagonist caught in the middle of a dangerous game. The sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is scheduled to hit cinemas on March 19, 2026, and will continue the intense espionage saga from the 2025 blockbuster.
