Vishwak Sen's latest film, Funky, is set for an early OTT release after crashing at the box office. The comedy drama, directed by KV Anudeep, received poor reviews from critics and failed to impress audiences. Despite aggressive promotion, the film's narrative style and storytelling were heavily criticized, leading to massive trolling.
Funky's box office performance was disappointing, with collections dropping significantly after the first day. The film earned ₹2.2 crore on day one, ₹1.8 crore on day two, and ₹1.6 crore on day three, with only ₹74 lakhs collected on day four. This marks another consecutive flop for Vishwak Sen, who hasn't delivered a solid hit in almost five years.
Netflix has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights, and the film may premiere on OTT in the first week of March 2026. The only silver lining is Kayadu Lohar's impressive performance, which has earned her a new project with Nani titled The Paradise.
The film's early OTT release is not surprising, given the trend of movies released only in Telugu heading to OTT within three weeks of their theatrical release. Sharwanand's Nari Nari Naduma Murari, a box-office hit, also arrived on OTT in just three weeks.
