Tamil actor Dhanush is embroiled in a legal controversy, with production house Thenandal Films serving him a Rs 20 crore notice over a stalled film project from 2016. The film, titled Naan Rudhran, was reportedly signed by Dhanush, who agreed to act and direct, but never materialized.
According to the legal notice, Thenandal Films invested nearly Rs 20 crore in advance payments and pre-production expenses, including payments to actors Nagarjuna and SJ Suryah. The production house claims Dhanush's failure to complete the project resulted in significant financial losses.
Dhanush has been given one week to respond to the notice and confirm whether he'll honor his earlier promise to allocate dates for the project. If not, Thenandal Films demands repayment of Rs 20 crore, plus an additional Rs 1 crore as compensation, and threatens further legal action.
Despite the controversy, Dhanush's career momentum remains strong, his next Kara along with his next project, D55, announced and set for release this year, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy.
