She praised the last 10 minutes, de aging, style, and mannerisms, but admitted she wanted more of her father in the film. Soundarya stated, "The last 10 minutes worked for me and I loved the de aging part, the style and mannerisms, but as a Thalaivar fan I wanted more of him in that film."
Despite Soundarya's moderate praise, Coolie received mixed reviews and was subjected to trolling and memes. However, the action thriller performed well at the box office, becoming one of the highest grossing Tamil films in 2025.
The film's commercial success notwithstanding, Soundarya's comments suggest that even family members had reservations about the project. As a director and producer herself, Soundarya's opinion carries weight, and her thoughts on the film provide valuable insight.
Rajinikanth's next project is Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar with a star-studded cast. The film is a sequel to the 2023 hit Jailer, and a release date is yet to be announced.
