Ranveer Singh in trouble for mocking Kantara. It is known that at the closing ceremony of IFFI 2025, Ranveer Singh mimicked Rishab Shetty's performance in Kantara -Chapter 1 saying "I watched Kantara Chapter 1 in theatres, and Rishab, it was an outstanding performance, especially when the female ghost (Chamundi Daiva) enters your body - that shot was amazing."
It triggered a huge controversy and Ranveer Singh was forced to apologise and at that time even Rishab said "Uska jo seriousness hai, jo Daiva nartak hai, unko humne bahot carefully show kiya hai. Usme kuch bhi idhar-udhar nahi hona chahiye [We have treated it with deep seriousness. The Daiva nartak has been depicted with great care; nothing should be distorted]."
Ranveer Singh said "My intention was to highlight Rishab’s incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it takes to perform that particular scene in the way he did, for which he has my utmost admiration."
However, once again Ranveer Singh seems to have landed in trouble as case has been registered in Bengaluru and an FIR has been filed against him. The case has been registered at the High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru. The case has been booked under Sections 196, 299 and 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A Bengaluru-based advocate called Prashanth Methal has filed the complaint.
The FIR states that the complainant came across a video of the performance on December 2, 2025, while viewing Instagram at the Karnataka State Billiards Association in Bengaluru. The video was reportedly shared by an account named Brief Chaat.
Methal also alleged in his complaint that Singh imitated the expressions associated with Panjurli and Guliga Daiva. Methal described the imitation as crude, comical, and derogatory.
