Parasakthi Film Faces 25 Cuts From CBFC

Sivakarthikeyan On CBFC Scrutiny

Sivakarthikeyan's latest film, Parasakthi, was released on Saturday after a long wait for the censor certificate. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cleared the film with a UA certificate, but only after asking for 25 cuts and modifications.

In a recent interview, Sivakarthikeyan spoke about the last-minute approval from CBFC..The CBFC demanded changes, including altering a dialogue from "Hindi has erased my dream" to "My only dream is to oppose Hindi imposition." Another voiceover referencing language imposition in other countries was also modified.

Sivakarthikeyan stated that the team didn't have time to analyze the changes, focusing instead on releasing the movie. Sivakarthikeyan revealed that the team's main focus was to release the movie, chasing a release date. He added that if they had more time, they might have explained the context of certain dialogues.

Despite the controversy, Parasakthi secured a solo release in Tamil cinema, directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad and starring Atharvaa, Ravi Mohan, and Sreeleela alongside Sivakarthikeyan. The film is based on the anti-Hindi protests and student revolution in 1960s Madras.
