Madras High Court shocks Jana Nayagan

Jana Nayagan gets HC shock again

It seems troubles are not ending for Thalapathy Vijay's last film Jana Nayagan. The film directed by H.Vinoth which was supposed to release on 9 Jan 2026 got postponed indefinitely due to the delay in the issuing of censor certificate by the CBFC.

Following this, the makers approached the High Court and they got a huge relief when a single judge ordered the Censor Board to pass the film for theatrical release by giving U/A certificate.

Even as fans are getting ready to celebrate and expecting the makers to announce the film's release date, the makers got another shock from the Madras High Court.

After the single judge order in favour of the makers of Jana Nayagan, High Court during its second hearing remarked "At least two-three days should have been given to the board,”

The division bench of Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice G Arul Murugan went on to question the makers saying “How can you go ahead with the release of the movie without even a certificate on hand? You can’t fix a date and put pressure on the system,”

The Bench remarked “You are creating an urgency and putting pressure on court.” The court didnot even leave the CBFC and questioned  “What’s the urgency that you have filed the appeal today?” With the matter now listed for the next hearing on January 21, the Pongal festival window is no longer possible for the film’s release.

Earlier, Justice PT.Asha said "After examining materials, it is crystal clear that the complainant's grievance appears to be an afterthought."
