Ranveer Singh's latest release, Dhurandhar, has stormed the box office, selling a whopping 1.3 crore tickets on BookMyShow. This impressive feat puts the film at the top of the list, surpassing Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava, which sold 1.25 crore tickets last year. Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan and Stree 2 follow closely, with 1.24 crore and over 1 crore tickets sold, respectively.
Despite its remarkable success, Dhurandhar still trails behind the overall record for Indian films on BookMyShow, held by Pushpa 2: The Rule, which sold 2 crore tickets in 2024. BookMyShow has become a significant contributor to ticket sales, accounting for almost one third of all sales for major films, especially in tier-1 and tier-2 cities.
Dhurandhar's box office success is undeniable, with over ₹886 crore grossed in India. Trade insiders estimate that the film has sold over 3.5 crore tickets, with 1.3 crore through BookMyShow and over 2 crore via spot bookings. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film features R Madhavan and Arjun Rampal in key roles alongside Ranveer Singh.
The film's success can be attributed to its strong cast and direction. With its impressive ticket sales and box office collection, Dhurandhar is shaping up to be one of the biggest hits of the year. Dhurandhar 2 is already announced to release on March 19, this year.
