Despite Mixed Reviews Avatar Fire & Ash Drawing Good Numbers At BOx Office

Avatar3 - The Highest Grossing Trilogy

James Cameron's Avatar: Fire & Ash has crossed the $400 million mark at the global box office, solidifying the Avatar franchise's status as the highest-grossing trilogy in history. The film's success has pushed the combined box office earnings of all three Avatar movies to a staggering $5.66 billion, surpassing the Star Wars trilogy's $4.48 billion worldwide.

The movie has been a box office sensation, earning around ₹10.25 crore on its sixth day in India, taking its total net collection to ₹95.75 crore. In just one week, Avatar: Fire & Ash has become the highest grossing Hollywood movie of 2025 in India, with a total gross of approximately 116.50 crores till Thursday.

The first Avatar film, released in 2009, opened with approximately $80 million domestically and grossed a total of $700 million. Its sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), opened with $134 million domestically and ended its run with a worldwide total of $2.3 billion. The combined box office performance of the Avatar trilogy gives it a $1 billion lead over Star Wars.

Despite the film's mixed word of mouth, the popularity of the franchise have contributed to its success. With a strong holiday season ahead, Avatar: Fire & Ash is expected to reach near 200 crores gross at the end of the second week. Avatar: Fire & Ash has recorded one of the biggest global opening weekends in IMAX screenings, surpassing Mission: Impossible The Final Reckoning, F1, and Superman. The film's worldwide total stands at $450 million, with $118.9 million from North America and $331.1 million from international markets.
