Hotstar Unveils 18 South Web Series

Jio Hotstar has announced a major push for South Indian content, unveiling 18 exciting web series in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu at the South Unbound event in Chennai. The streaming platform aims to delight viewers with a mix of reality shows, fiction, and non-fiction series, including Bigg Boss editions in multiple languages, Good Wife Season 2, Love Beyond Wicket, and Kerala Crime Files Season 3.

The announcement was part of a star-studded event attended by industry leaders like Kamal Haasan, Udhayanidhi Stalin, and Tamil Nadu ministers. Jio Hotstar plans to invest ₹4,000 crore over the next five years to boost South India’s creative economy, nurturing talent and expanding infrastructure. Sushant Sreeram, Head, SVOD Business & CMO at JioStar, highlighted a collaboration with the Tamil Nadu government to build stories "ready for India and the world."

The lineup includes Lingan, Vandra, Cousins and Kalyaanam, Namma Ooru Hero, Save The Tigers Season 3 and more, promising diverse storytelling. Jio Hotstar also hints at announcing big South Indian films soon, further expanding its footprint.

The event marked a significant step in strengthening the South Indian entertainment ecosystem, with support from government officials and industry icons.
