Akhanda 2 Release Postponed Indefinitely

Akhanda 2 - Wait Continues

Balakrishna's Akhanda 2 was set to hit theaters today, December 5, but its release has been stalled due to financial issues, leaving the film in limbo. The movie's premiere shows were cancelled at the last minute, and fans are disappointed, especially since the film had generated significant hype. The problem stems from a legal dispute involving a pending Rs 28 crore arbitration award in favour of Eros International Media Limited, prompting a stay order from the Madras High Court.

The uncertainty surrounding the film's release has created chaos, with distributors facing uncertainty and overseas markets crucial for big Telugu films. If the film is pushed to a later date, producers will need to renegotiate slots with Netflix for its digital release. The makers have expressed regret over the postponement, citing "unavoidable circumstances" and thanking Balakrishna and director Boyapati Sreenu for their support.

The film's production house, 14 Reels Plus, announced the postponement, stating they've tried their best to bring the film to screens but faced unexpected challenges. Fans are eagerly waiting for further updates, and the makers promise to share a new release date soon. The film's budget is reportedly Rs 200 crore, with Balakrishna's remuneration being Rs 45 crore and Boyapati Sreenu's Rs 35 crore.

The delay has sparked concerns about the film's box office prospects, but producers remain optimistic, hoping to resolve the issue soon. With a massive OTT deal with Netflix worth Rs 85 crore, the stakes are high, and fans are eagerly awaiting the film's release.  But, as per trade the film will not make its way to release this week. Let's see how things turns out to be.
