Mythri Movies Settled Ilaiyaraaja Rights Case Amicably

Relief for Mythri Movies

Mythri Movies has finally put an end to their dispute with legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja over the use of his iconic songs in their film Good Bad Ugly. The issue, which led to a court case, has been resolved with both parties reaching a mutual agreement. As part of the settlement, Mythri Movies will pay Ilaiyaraaja ₹50 lakhs and ensure due credits for using his compositions.

The film featured three of Ilaiyaraaja's classic tracks: "Ilamai Idho Idho" from Sakalakala Vallavan (1982), "En Jodi Manja Kuruvi" from Vikram (1986), and "Oththa Roova" from Nattupura Pattu (1996). However, the production team failed to obtain the necessary permissions, prompting Ilaiyaraaja to take legal action.

The Madras High Court had issued an interim injunction, resulting in the removal or muting of the songs in digital and streaming versions. With the issue now resolved, fans can enjoy the film with Ilaiyaraaja's iconic songs intact. The settlement brings relief to Mythri Movies, allowing them to move forward with their projects.
