Huge Relief - CBFC clears Dhurandhar for release

Dhurandhar gets censor clearance

Ranveer Singh's upcoming spy thriller Dhurandhar directed by Aditya Dhar got a huge relief from the censor board when the members after watching the film, cleared decks for its theatrical release on 5 December 2025.

The film is releasing in two parts and it stars Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, with Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in important roles. After the release of the trailer, the family members of Major Major Mohit Sharma, approached the Mumbai High Court seeking stay on the film's release citing that the makers didnot get their consent and didnot clarify whether the film is a biography on Major Mohit Sharma.

High Court though refused the stay, asked the CBFC to take into consideration the feelings and sentiments of the family members of Major Mohit Sharma before clearing decks for the film release. Now, CBFC passed the film with A certificate and felt that the film  is wholly fictional, carries a clear disclaimer, has no link to Major Sharma, and didn’t require Army consultation.

With CBFC, clearing the film's release, brother of Major Mohit Sharma, Madhur Sharma said “I am sure they’ve followed the process, and they were very quick to make a decision, which is good. We don’t know what data CBFC has relied on, but I am sure they have done their due diligence. They have said that it is a work of fiction, so I hope that a disclaimer will be duly added.”

He said, “I just feel that a screening could have been organised for the parents so that any misconceptions floating on social media could have been clarified. People who have lived their entire life with him are in a better position to tell if anything in the film replicates his life, rather than someone outside the ecosystem.”

When asked about the family's next steps, he said, "I am yet to speak to the lawyers… whether we should file a rejoinder...let's see."

The film according to sources will have a 4 minutes post credit scenes and with 3 hours and 34 minutes, Dhurandhar stands out as the lengthiest film in Singh's career.
