Hrithik Roshan humorously addressed War 2's box-office failure at a Dubai event, showcasing his ability to poke fun at himself. The film, which was released on August 14, received mixed reviews and struggled to meet expectations at the box office, collecting only Rs 236.55 crore net in India and Rs 364.35 crore worldwide.
During a launch event at the Coca-Cola Arena, Hrithik responded to the film's poor performance with a mix of gratitude and self-deprecating humour. "That's very kind of you. You know, my film just bombed at the box office, so it feels very good to get all the love, thank you," he said, as the audience applauded. Hrithik's lighthearted response showcases his maturity and ability to laugh at himself, even in the face of criticism.
War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, was the sixth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe, featuring Hrithik alongside NTR, Kiara Advani, and Ashutosh Rana. Despite its massive scale, the film underperformed commercially, falling short of its reported Rs 400-crore budget. Hrithik has since reflected on his experience of playing Kabir, sharing behind-the-scenes images on Instagram and writing about the challenges he faced during the film's production.
Recently In his Instagram post, Hrithik wrote, "Playing Kabir was so much fun. So relaxed, knew him so well. It was going to be easy. Finally, a movie I could do like so many others do, keep it simple, play the actor, do your job and come home… It was such a pleasure to have [Ayan's] energy on sets." Hrithik's words offer a glimpse into his mindset during the film's production, and his willingness to share his thoughts and feelings with his fans.
