Rajamouli trolled for his comments on Hanuman

Rajamouli draws flak for his comments

Rajamouli trolled for his comments on Hanuman. The makers of Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu's project launched an extraordinary event at RFC, Hyderabad yesterday where they revealed the film's title and the first glimpse of Mahesh Babu.

The film is titled Varanasi and it stars Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in key roles and is slated for release in 2027. In the midst of all this, speaking at the event Rajamouli said  "This is an emotional moment for me. I don’t believe in God. My dad came and said Lord Hanuman will take care of things from behind. Is this how he takes care – thinking of this, I am angry."

He shared "My wife is also fond of Lord Hanuman. She behaves as if he’s her friend and converses with him. I got angry at her as well." and he said "When my father talked about Hanuman and suggested relying on his blessings for success, I got so angry."

Netizens expressed their anger for his comments.

A social media user said, "It was not fair on the part of Rajamouli, like saying he doesn’t believe in God. How come he titled the movie 'Varanasi' and used mythological characters? Doesn’t he know the people get hurt? Not expected from a man of his stature (sic)."

Another wrote, "Let's say Rajamouli lied about being an atheist, so what is the big deal?? He's not targeting any community, just taking Hindu mythology as inspiration for his characters, so what exactly is triggering leftists? (sic)".
