The year 2025 has turned out to be a milestone in Indian cinema, delivering a series of blockbusters that redefined both storytelling and box office success. The year’s topgrossing film is Kantara: Chapter 1, which collected a staggering ₹700 crore domestic, and Rs 817 Crore worldwide, setting a new benchmark for Indian cinema. Kantara: Chapter 1 emerged as the undisputed box office leader of 2025. Directed by Rishab Shetty, the film’s unique blend of folklore, spirituality, and visual grandeur struck a chord with viewers nationwide. Close on its heels, Chhaava secured the second spot with an impressive ₹700 crore collection domestically and Rs 804+ worldwide. At a time dominated by highoctane action and mythology, Saiyaara breathed new life into the romantic drama genre, earning ₹400 crore. Its soulful storytelling and heartfelt performances proved that emotiondriven cinema still has a massive audience base. Bollywood’s commercial muscle remained strong, with Coolie earning ₹323 crore in India and Rs 503+ crores globally,  proving that stardriven entertainers continue to attract huge crowds, while War 2, part of Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe, amassed ₹287 crore with its explosive action sequences and slick visuals.

Mythology and Telugu cinema also shone bright, as Mahavatar Narasimha grossed ₹268 crore, captivating audiences with divine themes. Telugu films continued their panIndia streak of success: They Call Him OG collected ₹219 crore, and 305+ worldwide and Sankranthiki Vasthunam followed closely with ₹217 crore, and 303+ crores globally during the festive season. Rounding off the top ten were Raid 2 and Sitaare Zameen Par, earning ₹201 crore and ₹199 crore respectively, both managing solid box office runs despite heavy competition. MLayalam too delivered biggest Grossers L2 Lucifer with 260+ Grosser and Lokah Chapter 1 crossing 300+ for the first time for a Malayalm film.
