SS Rajamouli Unveils Prithviraj Sukumaran First Look From SSMB29

Director SS Rajamouli has dropped the first glimpse of Prithviraj Sukumaran as Kumbha, the menacing antagonist in the upcoming Mahesh Babu film SSMB29. The poster shows Prithviraj seated on an automated wheelchair, cloaked in black with robotic arms, giving off a Doctor Octopus like vibe. Rajamouli described Kumbha as “sinister, ruthless, powerful” and praised Prithviraj for bringing the character to life. Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and the production team celebrated the reveal, confirming the film’s tagline Globe Trotter.

The movie, produced by KL Narayana under Durga Arts, is slated for a grand reveal on 15 November 2025 at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, with a livestream on JioHotstar. Fans can expect a massive action adventure that blends history and mythology, featuring extensive African sequences shot in Kenya and a massive budget that rivals the biggest panIndian productions. Mahesh Babu is performing his own stunts, and a new cinematographer has been roped in, replacing Rajamouli’s long time collaborator Senthil Kumar.

SSMB29 follows a rugged explorer on a high stakes mission through uncharted terrain, battling nature, mystery, and a powerful enemy to uncover a longlost secret that could change the world. Inspired by Indiana Jones and African adventure classics, the film stars Mahesh Babu as the lead explorer, Priyanka Chopra in a pivotal role, and Prithviraj Sukumaran as the villain Kumbha. The narrative weaves together globetrotting action, mythic elements, and emotional depth, aiming for a release in 2027.

The production boasts a $135 million (₹1,188 crore) budget, making it one of Asia’s largest film projects. Nearly 95 % of the African sequences were filmed in Kenya, showcasing iconic locations like Masai Mara, Naivasha, Samburu and Amboseli. Music is composed by M.M. Keeravani, while SS Rajamouli directs and KL Narayana produces. The cast and crew have emphasized the film’s immersive world, promising a neverbeforeseen cinematic experience.

With the first look already igniting buzz, the makers plan to roll out the official title and teaser soon. The event on 15 November 2025 will mark a milestone in Indian cinema, setting the stage for a blockbuster release across 120 countries.
