Aamir Khan and Anurag Kashyap have spoken out about the growing trend of excessive demands made by some Bollywood actors, which are affecting production costs. Aamir Khan questioned why producers are expected to pay for personal expenses like drivers and helpers, stating that these costs should be borne by the actors themselves.
Anurag Kashyap echoed Aamir Khan's sentiments, highlighting how entourage expenses can consume a significant portion of a movie's budget. He shared examples of unnecessary costs, such as cars driving long distances to fetch fancy food, which don't contribute to the filmmaking process. Both Aamir Khan and Anurag Kashyap believe that these trends shift the focus away from the craft and toward unnecessary expenses.
Aamir Khan emphasized that actors should see themselves as part of a larger team and ensure that the production house is not burdened because of them. He stated that stars earning crores of rupees should be able to cover their own personal expenses, rather than relying on producers to foot the bill.
The controversy started with reports of Deepika Padukone's alleged demands for her role in Spirit and recently Kalki 2, including a fee hike, shorter workdays, and luxurious treatment for her team. Aamir Khan and Anurag Kashyap's comments have sparked a debate about the growing expectations of actors and the impact on production costs in the Bollywood industry.
