Karnataka Government Fixed Maximum Movie Ticket Price As 200

Karnataka Govt Cinema Ticket Price Cap

The Karnataka government has taken a significant step in regulating cinema ticket prices across the state. As per the new rule, the maximum ticket price for all screenings of films in all languages and theaters, including multiplexes, has been fixed at Rs 200, exclusive of taxes. This decision aims to make cinema more accessible and affordable for the audience, especially in light of rising ticket prices in recent years.

The new rule will be applicable to all theaters and multiplexes in the state, except for premium screens with a capacity of less than 75 seats. The ticket price, including taxes, will be up to Rs 236. The government had issued a draft notification earlier this year, allowing the public to submit objections and suggestions, which were reviewed before finalizing the rule. The regulation is expected to provide relief to cinema-goers and support the local film industry, particularly the Kannada film sector.

The Karnataka government's decision to cap cinema ticket prices is part of a broader initiative to standardize and control prices in the state's film industry. The move is expected to benefit the audience and promote the growth of the local film industry. The state has already implemented other initiatives to boost the Kannada film industry, including a state-run OTT platform and the creation of a new film city in Mysuru.
