The Kerala High Court has granted interim protection from arrest to actress Lakshmi Menon in a case of abduction and assault of an IT employee in Kochi. The court accepted Lakshmi Menon's anticipatory bail plea, which refuted the allegations and stated that they are false. The actress had been named in the case along with Mithun and Aneesh, who have already been taken into custody.
The incident occurred on August 24, when a quarrel broke out at a bar in Kochi between Lakshmi Menon and her friends and the victim, Aliyar Shah Saleem, and his friends. The situation escalated, and the victim was allegedly kidnapped, beaten, and threatened inside a car. The FIR stated that the complainant was taken into the accused vehicle, where he was hit on his face and body and threatened with dire consequences.
Lakshmi Menon's anticipatory bail plea claimed that the allegations are false and aimed at tarnishing her reputation. She alleged that the complainant and his friends were the aggressors and that she and her female friend were verbally and sexually harassed at the bar. She also claimed that they were followed and attacked with an alcohol bottle after they left the bar.
Lakshmi Menon is a well-known actress in the Malayalam and Tamil film industries. She made her debut in 2011 with the Malayalam film Raghavinte Swantham Raziya and went on to star in several successful films, including Kumki, Kutti Puli, and Vedalam. She was last seen in the film Sabdham, which released earlier this year. The actress has built a reputation for her performances in a variety of roles.
