Coolie vs War 2 Box Office Showdown

The Independence Day weekend witnessed a massive box office clash between Rajinikanth's "Coolie" and Hrithik Roshan - NTR's "War 2". Both films carried high expectations and opened to packed houses, but after six days, "Coolie" has emerged as the clear winner. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, "Coolie" raked a nett of Rs 216 crore in India, while "War 2" lagged behind with Rs 192.75 crore.

"Coolie" started strong, earning Rs 65 crore on its opening day, with Tamil Nadu contributing significantly to its success followed by Telugu version. Although weekday collections slowed down, the film's overall India net total reached Rs 216 crore. In contrast, "War 2" opened with Rs 52 crore and picked up to Rs 57.85 crore on Friday, but its momentum fizzled out quickly. The Hindi version is the primary contributor to "War 2"'s collections, but it hasn't sustained strongly through the weekdays.

The holiday advantage gave both films a big push, but weekday trends suggest that "Coolie" is holding a stronger edge. Globally, "Coolie" has crossed the Rs 400 crore mark and headings towards 450 crores, while "War 2" os around 320 crores globally. The mix of action, drama, and Rajinikanth's screen presence has made "Coolie" a festival like release for fans.
