Tamil superstar Vijay Sethupathi has denied recent sexual misconduct allegations, labeling them as a "filthy accusation" and a calculated smear campaign. The controversy gained traction after a social media user on X (formerly Twitter) accused the actor of offering money for inappropriate favors. In an interview, Vijay Sethupathi firmly dismissed these claims as utterly baseless. He further confirmed that his legal team has initiated formal action by filing a complaint with the cybercrime division.
Vijay Sethupathi expressed that anyone familiar with him would find these allegations laughable, stating, "Anyone who knows me even remotely will laugh at this. I know myself too. This kind of filthy accusation can't upset me." While acknowledging the distress caused to his family and close friends, he urged them to "let it slide," suggesting the accuser is merely seeking attention.
Vijay Sethupathi believes this individual is capitalizing on a brief moment of fame. He also hinted at a potential motive behind the allegations, an attempt to disrupt the success of his latest film, Thalaivan Thalaivii. Vijay Sethupathi remarked, "My new film is doing well. Probably, some jealous elements think that by tarnishing me they can damage my film."
He emphasized that such tactics are ineffective and highlighted the inherent risks of unchecked online content in today's digital landscape, where unverified claims can spread rapidly without accountability, leading to false narratives. The specific allegations were reportedly made by a user named Ramya Mohan, who posted claims alleging that a young woman was being exploited under the guise of industry norms.
