Power Star Pawan Kalyan is coming up with a periodic film for the first time in his career with Hari Hara Veera Mallu. The initial delays did make people a bit sceptical, but the trailer release seems to have revived interest, which is great for the film's prospects. Pawan Kalyan in a historical action role is an exciting combination, and the visuals in the trailer definitely seem to promise a grand experience. After several delays the film is releasing on 24 July. let us see what impact Hari Hara Veera Mallu created at the box office.
The film is set in a historical backdrop and follows the life of Hari Hara Veera Mallu (Pawan Kalyan), a legendary outlaw in the 17th century. Veera Mallu takes a deal with the king of Golconda (Dalip Tahil) to steal the Kohinoor diamond from the Mughal emperor, Aurangzeb (Bobby Deol). From then on the storyline is centred on Veera Mallu adventures, struggles, and quest for justice.
Pawan Kalyan has done a marvellous job in the role. He brings his characteristic charisma to the character, and there’s no doubt that his fans will love his portrayal. He’s especially effective in the action sequences, where his stunts and combat scenes stand out. Powerful dialogues that are hard hitting drives all his fans mad.
Bobby Deol as Aurangzeb looked menacing and performed well. The supporting cast Sunil, Subbaraju, Sachin Khedekar, Raghu Babu and Dalip Tahil contribute well to the story they do add value to the plot.
Nidhhi Agerwal looked beautiful and gorgeous in the role of Panchami. Here role comes with a twist which no one expects. Nidhhi truly stole the spotlight in the "Tara Tara" song with her graceful and elegant dance moves.
Hari Hara Veera Mallu story is penned by Director Krish who is known for films like Kanche and Gautamiputra Satakarni. He directed some part of the film before Jyothi Krishna took over the mantle for him. The director has got succeeded with his narration in first half with numerous action sequences and the interesting pre interval and interval twist. At the end of the first half viewers feel satisfied get a feeling that the wait for the film was worth it. But the director has failed to live up to the expectations with second half. The slow narration and poor VFX work has played spoil sport. Couple of songs have acted as a speed breaker. It’s better to not talk about the unbaked climax.
The cinematography is top-notch in the first half capturing the historical era beautifully. However in the second half, the cinematography went haywire. The biggest negative impact of the film is the visual effects. The substandard visual effects looked poor in most frames in the second half. It’s good to not talk about the VFX work especially the horse scenes. Production values in second Half gave an outdated feeling.
The action sequences are definitely one of the major selling points of the film. The sword fights, chases, and battles are meticulously designed, and they enhance the epic feel of the story.
The music, composed by M.M. Keeravani, is one of the highlights. His background score elevated quite a few sequences in the film. Sai Madhav Burra did a good job with his dialogues. The dialogues like ‘Dharmam ante bhajanalu cheyyadam kadu. Dharmam ante nilabadadam. Poradadam’ worked well.
Hari Hara Veera Mallu has all the right ingredients for a successful period drama. Pawan Kalyan put in lot of effort he anchored this period film with a performance that balances strength and restraint. Be it the costumes, mannerisms, dialogue delivery etc, he created a sensation on the screen.
The Director wove the emotions quite well trying to connect chords talking about Sanatana Dharma, Cruelty of Mughals. But the director has failed in second half. The poor VFX work also brought negative impact to many scenes. Things would have been even more powerful with better screenplay in the second half.
Overall For Pawan Kalyan’s fans, this is definitely a movie to watch, especially for the larger-than-life action and his portrayal of the legendary character. For general moviegoers it might still be worth a watch but don't go in expecting a flawless masterpiece.
Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 2.5 for Hari Hara Veera Mallu.
