Saroja Devi's journey in films began with the Kannada classic Mahakavi Kalidasa in 1955, and she rose to fame with Nadodi Mannan in 1958, where she starred opposite M.G. Ramachandran. Throughout her career, she received numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri in 1969 and the Padma Bhushan in 1992. She was also honoured with the Kalaimamani Award and an honorary doctorate from Bangalore University.

Saroja Devi's legacy is marked by her versatility and dedication to cinema. She worked alongside legends like Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan, N.T. Rama Rao, and Rajkumar, and holds the record for playing lead roles in 161 consecutive films between 1955 and 1984. Her fashion sense set trends in the 1960s, and her elegance on-screen and humility off-screen earned her admiration across generations.
