Makers Agreed To Change The Title Of Janaki vs State Of Kerala

JSK Title Controversy Resolved

The title controversy surrounding the Malayalam film "Janaki vs State of Kerala" has finally been resolved. The producers have agreed to change the title of the film as per the instructions of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The CBFC had objected to the film's title, stating that it could hurt religious sentiments due to the inclusion of the name "Janaki," which is another form of the Hindu goddess Sita.

The producers have agreed to change the title to "Janaki V vs State of Kerala" or "V Janaki vs State of Kerala," adding the letter "V" to represent the heroine's full name, Janaki Vidyadharan. Additionally, the CBFC has suggested that a court scene in the film be muted, where Janaki's full name is spoken twice. The board believes that the scene's content is not suitable for a character with a respectable name.

If the film crew agrees to the changes, the CBFC has promised to give certification to the film within three days. The trial in the court on this case is ongoing, but the board has backed down from its earlier demand for 96 cuts in the movie, now suggesting that only two changes are sufficient. Directed by Praveen Narayanan, the film is set in the backdrop of a courtroom drama and is produced by J. Phanindra Kumar under the banner Cosmos Entertainments.

The film, which was supposed to release on June 20, was delayed due to the title dispute. With the controversy now resolved, the release date is likely to be announced soon. Suresh Gopi and Anupama Parameswaran played the main characters in the film. The changes made to the film will ensure that it meets the CBFC's requirements, paving the way for its release.
