Sekhar Kammula to dissect Kuberaa Tamil version perfomance. Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika's Kuberaa directed by Sekhar Kammula released 15 days back in Tamil and Telugu languages. The film turned out to be Dhanush's second straight Telugu film which as also shot simultaneously in Tamil after SIR/Vaathi.
Dhanush is a top star in Kollywood and his films Raayan, Vaathi, ThiruChitrambalam all went on to cross more than Rs100crs. However, much to the shock of all, Kuberaa got low buzz before the release and even opened to below average response. The makers felt that one the film gets positive talk, collections will pick.
Tamil critics gave positive reviews and also felt that this was Dhanush's career best performance. The first day collections gave hope but the weekend turned out to be average. After the weekend, the collections fell down drastically and it is now just Rs 20crs. In the final run it may not get more than Rs 25crs and the makers sold the rights for less than Rs 18crs. This means, they will end up making Rs 40-50crs losses.
Sekhar Kammula is shocked with the film's performance in the Tamil version though the makers are happy with the Telugu version performance. Sekhar Kammula said that Kuberaa story, Dhanush's role, characterisation will be according to the tastes of Tamil viewers.
Sekhar Kammula said Tamil people love such stories and roles and they will encourage them and confessed that he is unable to fathom why the film didnot do well in Tamil Nadu. He said he is now analysing and trying to findout where they went wrong and why it happened in this way.
