Akella Siva Prasad on Kannappa brahmin controversy. Manchu Vishnu's devotional entertainer Kannappa directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh of Mahabharat fame is slated for grand release on 27 June 2025.
The film's promotions, teaser and trailer got good response. In the meantime, Kannappa got embrolied in a controversy. Brahmin community has taken a strong exception over the portrayal of Brahmanandam and Saptagiri as Brahmins in the film and demanded apology from the makers and deletion of those scenes.
Reports also came that the Censor Board members asked Kannappa makers to do away with those scenes raising objection to more than 11 such scenes. In the midst of all this, writer Akella Siva Prasad speaking to scribes shared his thoughts on the controversy.
He said the makers will never spend a whopping budget to insult any particular community. He said he being the dialogue writer and the director Mukesh Kumar Singh being a brahmin, will never allow such thing. He said unlike earlier films on Kannappa where Brahmins were insulted, the makers have taken due care to elevate their importance.
He said priests after seeing Mohan Babu's performance as Mahadeva Sastri inspired by the 16th-century text Sri Kalahasti Mahatyam by poet Dhurjati was hailed by all the priests of Srikalahasti temple and they have even blessed him.
