Funny: ZERO marks in EAMCET can still get you seat

Strange are the ways of our Indian education system. As Eamcet results were released yesterday, there was an abnormal finding that seven students who secured ‘zero’ marks in all subjects in Eamcet still made it to the final rank list.

Here is the story, earlier 14 such ‘Zero’ students were declared qualified in Eamcet when the marks were announced on June 16. However, seven of them failed in Inter exams and had to be disqualified. But the other seven made it to the rank list, five in engineering and two in medical. The five students who made it to the engineering rank list despite failing in Inter exams can claim admission in engineering colleges as no minimum marks are stipulated for SC and ST students while the two students who secured ‘zero’ in Bi.P.C would not be able to enter medical colleges, thanks to the Medical Council of India’s stipulation that candidates should get a minimum of 50 percent marks in both Eamcet & Intermediate. But, still they can seek admission in agriculture, veterinary, home science and other allied courses.
