Holi, the riot of colours, was celebrated with festive fervor. The harvest festival marks the beginning of spring and is regarded as a celebration of universal brotherhood and unity. Setting aside social discriminations, people visited friends and relatives and smeared each other with colours to revive kinship.

All sections of the people, especially the youth revelled in colours by throwing coloured water at each other. Youth with their faces painted colourfully drove on two-wheelers to celebrate the festival with friends and relatives and shared the joy.

The 'Holi' spirit which stands for 'holy' and pure relations, as per Hindu mythology, was followed by the devout families. The children were seen vigorously playing the watery colours among themselves, while the youth played with dry colours and sought the blessings by dropping gulal on the feet of the elderly.

Police made elaborate security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident.
