UVARD approaches PM for aid

Hyderabad,Nov 24: Having been left with no other choice,the United Voluntary Action for Rehabilitation of Disabled (UVARD) has approached Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, seeking aid.The group of NGOs’ main grouse is the stoppage by the Social Justice Ministry of Grant-in-Aid to special institutes for disabled in the state.Seeking the Prime Minister’s intervention in the matter,the UVARD alleged that institutes for the disabled had been receiving the grants from the Centre for the last three decades until Social Justice Minister Mukul Wasnik had stopped it last year."The organisations have been receiving funds from the government but the Ministry of Social Justice had stopped it for 20 months without a reason."It is a shameful act of the Ministry and the funds should be released immediately,"said UVARD chairman Ishakar.
