Nellore,Oct 27: The three-member committee appointed by Nellore District  Collector  K Ramgopal submitted its   preliminary report on the Bollineni Eye Hospital and Research Centre, where people who underwent surgery lost their vision, to the stat government on Tuesday.The committee after conducting preliminary investigations stated  that the patients, who underwent cataract surgery lost their vision either because  the tools used  during  the surgery were  not  sterilized properly  and  the after  effects  of the medicines used following the  surgery.

A panel of doctors from Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital, Hyderabad will visit the Bollineni Hospital later in the day to ascertain the  exact causes  for  this fiasco.Based on the report the government would initiate criminal action against the guilty medical staff of Bollineni Eye Hospital and Research Centre who performed these operations.Meanwhile drug Control administration officials collected samples of seven varieties of drugs which includes ointments, eye drops, injections and tablets used before and after operations.
