Hyderabad,Oct 21: Lauding the services of police department during recent floods in the state, the Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Wednesday announced Rs five crores in the next year budget for construction of houses for police families.Talking to media persons on the occasion of Police  Commemoration Day at Goshamahal stadium on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that the government would take all welfare measures for rehabilitating the family members of police personnel who died in various incidents.He said that 833 police personnel laid down their lives across the country this year while dealing with anti-social elements. The police force has done a splendid job in curbing unlawful activities, controlling crime and working hard to ensure the safety and security of society.The sacrifices of police personnel should be remembered by all people, he added.

The police department is taking all steps to maintain law and order and internal security in the country, he explained.Commending the services and contributions of police during recent floods in the state, Minister for Home Smt Sabitha Indra Reddy said the government has been proactive in sanctioning various welfare initiatives to help the personnel have a better life and also to improve the conditions of families of those who laid their lives while discharging their duty.She said the AP police are lauded nationally for their stellar record in investigating, reducing crime rate and assuring safety of citizens. The AP Police has emerged as a role model for other states in the matters of combating the Maoist and left-wing extremism, efficiency in enforcing laws and preserving peace.

Director General of Police Girish Kumar said that the government would recruit 37,000 posts in a phased manner in three years in the police department to revamp the department.Recalling the supreme sacrifices of policemen, he urged the Chief Minister to allot Rs 10 crore for construction of houses for police families of those who laid their lives while discharging their duty.He said that priority is being given for family members of deceased police personnel in different organisations being run by the police.
