The Telugu culture and customs and traditions are easy to follow and adopted many countries in world as Andhra’s have played a significant role in the history of the world, stated Minister for Revenue Dharmanna Prasad.
Participating as chief guest at the 22nd anniversary celebrations of Delhi Telugu Academy organized at Ravindra Bharathi on Monday, the Minister stated that the greatness of Telugu language, literature and culture should be upholded and preserved by all Andhra people.
 
The contributions of writers, poets and litterateurs to Telugu language and culture were unforgettable, he explained.He said Dr Bezawada Gopala Reddy had brought respect to Telugus in his capacity as chief minister of the erstwhile Andhra State, governor of Uttar Pradesh and chairman of Andhra Pradesh Sahitya Akademy.He said that the time had come for every Telugu-speaking person to do everything possible to revive interest in their language, as there was a great danger in waiting.
 
Referring to an observation made by the UNESCO through a study, he said the very existence of the Telugu language would be in question after 22 years, if the present state of affairs continued without any change.He called for preserving the greatness of Telugu language inseparable from ‘our great culture’ in the face of onslaught by globalisation, English and western culture.On the occasion, the Minister felicitated some prominent people, who worked for upliftment of Telugu culture in India and abroad, in recognition of their outstanding contribution in their fields.
