Hyderabad, Oct 14: More than 1,000 Indians were arrested in Muscat for over staying in the country without valid documents and visas, reports reaching the state police headquarters here said today.According to a bulletin released by AP police, more than 1,000 Indians, who were working in various firms,were overstaying in Muscat though their visas have expired long back.Among the 1,000 Indians, 600 were reportedly hailing from Andhra Pradesh, particularly from Karimnagar district.

Muscat's Immigration and Emigration officials said the Indians were sent to Muscat allegedly by a foreign employment agent in India and were arrested for overstaying in the country.The arrested Indians were now being kept in the immigration detention centre at Muscat pending deportation.The officials said the Indian High Commission here has been informed about the arrests and the developments thereafter.
