Vijayawada, Sept 22: The mediamen on Tuesday staged a dharna wearing black badges following an attack on their colleague at Indrakeeladri, the abode of Goddess Kanaka Durga.The trouble started when the journalists entered the temple premises with media passes issued by the Vijayawada Sub-Collector to cover events as part of the annual ten-day Dasara festival.But, the police obstructed the journalists and did not allow them to cover the event. In the melee, a constable reportedly assaulted a journalist.Irate over the unruly behavior of the police towards journalists, they staged a dharna wearing black badges and had an heated argument with Circle Inspector of Police Ramana.Even, the Circle Inspector reportedly dared the scribes to complain to the City Police Commissioner K V Rajendranath Reddy over the issue.However, the journalists discharged their duty by wearing black badges in protest against the high handedness of the police towards them.Meanwhile, on the fouth day of Dassara festival, the Goddess Kanakadurga was adorned as ‘Gayatri Devi’.
