The controversy over the ticket prices in theatres in Andhra Pradesh and the strong stand by the AP government headed by CM Jagan Mohan Reddy is leaving Tollywood on the brink of existence. With corona pandemic even as Tollywood is trying to fight for its relevance and survival in the aftermath of the digital revolution, the decision of AP government on ticket issues, banning of extra shows and curbs on theatres came as a death knell.

Tollywood for long remained silent except for a few like Pawan Kalyan, Chiranjeevi, Suresh Babu speaking against the controversial GO and others like Rajamouli, Dil Raju, Allu Aravind, Balakrishna requesting the AP government to reconsider the decision. In the midst of all this, star director Raghavendra Rao highlighted the Tollywood problems by writing an open letter to AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He highlighted AP government's decision is plunging all the stakeholders associated with Tollywood in losses putting a question mark over its existence itself. He requested the AP government to increase ticket prices for big films through its intended online portal. It has to be seen how the AP government react to his suggestion who brought many laurels to the industry.
