Super Star Rajinikanth today received India's highest award in the film industry, Dadasaheb Phalke award. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu honored him with the award today at a grand function in New Delhi. Later he sprang a surprise by dedicating the award to his bus driver friend who inspired him to enter into films.

Rajinikanth also dedicated the award to legendary filmmaker K.Balachander, who directed his first film Apoorva Ragangal. Apart from it, he dedicated the award to his brother Sathyanarayana Rao and his "directors, producers, theatre owners, technicians and fans."

Rajinikanth attended the function with his wife Latha and his daughter Aishwarya. Rajinikanth said that today is a special occasion for him as he also launched an APP Hoote developed by his second daughter Soundarya. Rajini is set to entertain movie lovers with his upcoming entertainer Annathe which is releasing in Telugu as Peddanna on November 4th as a Diwali special.
